Panic hardware for gates

We have a problem with which we hope you can help. Two years ago we had a chain link fence and gate installed. Now the fire department informs us we need to have panic hardware on the gate. The gate we have is 72" wide and has corner posts that are 2 1/2". I looked on the website and I can't find anything that might work so I was hoping you could help.

Typically, 6' wide gates are not good candidates for panic door hardware due to their size, but we do have a few solutions. First, you can purchase one of our panic bar kits, mainly the D-6045 or D-6047 found here:

with an optional extra plate for $60, which is not found on our site. This will allow you to extend the backing plate from 54'' to the 72'' you need. Alternatively, you can use the kit as-is, but you would need to weld another horizontal mid-brace to attach this panic bar to. In this case, the plate would not reach both vertical uprights of the gate, but it would secure itself horizontally to both mid-rails of your gate. I hope this helps you out.
